Masterson’s Lounge, situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my most recent experience at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I encountered behind its entrance was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.
The State of Affairs: Filthy and Disregarded
From the moment I walked in , it was evident that upkeep was not a priority at this venue. The floors were sticky , and a foul smell of decaying beverages and neglected washrooms polluted the entire bar . With a smell of a mixture of ammonia , decay and sickness . The main bar, which should be the main attraction of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and debris that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The toilet was in even more deplorable shape — backed up, with a broken handle and walls covered in what I can only assume was feces.
